Course Overview​

The Platinum Course is not for the faint-hearted. It is an intensive 18-week programme designed for students who are serious about building a professional career in the dog grooming industry.

Over the course of 18 weeks, you'll be immersed in the day-to-day life of a busy grooming salon, combining practical learning, technical skill development, business education, and professional mentoring. You'll be expected to work hard, absorb a significant amount of information, practise your skills consistently, and continually challenge yourself as your confidence and abilities grow, designed for students who are committed to becoming qualified, certified, and career-ready Professional Dog Groomers.

This comprehensive course combines the practical skills taught throughout our Silver and Gold Courses with dedicated business training, providing everything you need to confidently launch your career within the dog grooming industry.

Training takes place in a fully operational grooming salon, giving you invaluable real-world experience rather than a simulated classroom environment. Throughout the programme, you'll work with a wide variety of dogs of different breeds, coat types, temperaments, ages, and grooming requirements, allowing you to develop the confidence and adaptability expected of a professional Dog Groomer.

Professional Grooming Preparation

Build confidence in all aspects of preparation work, including bathing, drying, brushing, de-matting where appropriate, coat preparation, and salon workflow. You'll learn how exceptional preparation forms the foundation of every professional groom.

Advanced Clipping & Scissoring

Develop advanced clipping and scissoring techniques while working on a wide variety of breeds and coat types. You'll learn how to achieve balanced, commercial pet trims whilst adapting every groom to suit the individual dog and owner's requirements.

Grooming a Wide Variety of Breeds

Throughout the course you'll groom numerous breeds, including many popular crossbreeds and designer dogs, each presenting their own coat characteristics and styling challenges. This variety develops confidence and versatility before entering the industry.

Breed-Specific Styling

Gain an understanding of traditional breed profiles alongside practical commercial pet styling. Learn how to adapt styling techniques to suit coat condition, maintenance requirements, lifestyle, and client expectations.

Working with Different Temperaments

Every dog is unique. You'll gain experience working with nervous, excitable, elderly, puppy, and first-time grooming clients, learning how to adapt your handling techniques whilst maintaining a calm, positive grooming experience.

Professional Client Consultations

Develop the communication skills required to conduct successful client consultations, discuss styling options, assess coat condition, explain realistic expectations, and provide home grooming advice.

Salon Workflow

Experience every stage of the grooming process from welcoming the client and completing consultations through to bathing, styling, finishing, and the final handover. This realistic approach prepares you for the day-to-day responsibilities of working within a professional salon.

Grooming Equipment & Maintenance

Become confident selecting, using, maintaining, and caring for professional grooming equipment including clippers, blades, scissors, dryers, and specialist tools.

Health, Welfare & Safe Handling

Continue developing advanced handling techniques whilst recognising canine body language and behaviour. Learn how to adjust your approach to ensure every dog remains safe, comfortable, and relaxed throughout the grooming process.

Building Speed Without Compromising Quality

As your confidence develops, you'll learn how to improve efficiency whilst maintaining excellent standards of finish and always prioritising the welfare of the dog.
