During your visit, you'll spend time inside a working grooming salon, where you'll observe daily routines and gain an understanding of the skills, knowledge, and dedication required in the industry. You'll have the opportunity to watch experienced grooming techniques in action, ask questions, and take part in selected salon tasks, giving you a genuine feel for the profession before committing to further training.

Live Grooming Demonstration

Observe a professional Dog Stylist carrying out a full grooming session. Watch how grooming techniques, handling skills, equipment, and salon procedures come together to achieve a high-quality finish while always prioritising the dog's welfare.

Hands-On Salon Experience

Take part in appropriate salon activities under guidance, helping you become familiar with the day-to-day environment of a busy grooming salon and the responsibilities involved.

 

Introduction to Canine Behaviour

An introduction to the importance of reading a dog's body language and recognising how different dogs communicate with their Stylist.

Creating a Calm Grooming Environment

A basic understanding how professional groomers adapt their approach to suit each individual dog, ensuring every pet feels safe, comfortable, and respected throughout the grooming process.

Skin & Coat Care

Receive an introduction to canine coats types, including how to identify different coat types and why selecting the correct shampoo and grooming products is essential for maintaining healthy skin and a beautiful coat.​​

Safe Handling Techniques

Learn the foundations of safe and humane dog handling. This includes how to approach, support, and position dogs appropriately during grooming while protecting both the dog's welfare and your own safety.
