This 12 week intense course is suitable for the complete novice. It will offer a wide range of dogs to groom, including the ‘designer’ breeds, and provide plenty of time to ensure scissor and clipping techniques are perfected on a variety of different dogs with different temperaments and specialist requirements.

We aim to give solid foundations to begin you on your journey as a professional dog groomer. This course must be completed 4 days a week over a 12 week period ( exceptions can be made if you are already working in a salon please feel free to discuss this with us).

Golden Paws Grooming Ltd (the Academy) have been grooming dogs for over 24 years and have a wealth of knowledge and experience and we love to share it. We are passionate about what we do and are proud of our reputation for high end grooming. In running courses through the Academy, we aim to pass on our passion, skills and presentation to all those we teach.

Dog Grooming is a skill based profession and there is a lot to learn and develop. This course aims to provide you with the solid foundations needed to groom dogs. Some students may learn the necessary skills quicker or slower than others and their development is all dependent on the student’s personal ability to understand what is being taught. Plenty of practice is required and the more students can practice in addition to this course the better. We understand everyone’s learning abilities and styles can vary so should we feel a student may need further training this will be discussed during and at the final stage of their course. A discount will be offered for a up to 12 months from the end of your course for further training days if these are required. 

Work experience of 250 hours in a salon must be completed before being entered to your Certified Professional Groomer (CPG) exam. We are happy to help with locating a suitable salon.

We are a small academy so no more than 4 students will attend our courses at one time (currently we only have 2 due to Covid restrictions).
